Devotional Message:
(John 11:25)
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die."

Observation:
This moment takes place in a difficult, emotional setting. Jesus’ friend Lazarus has died, and Lazarus’ sisters, Mary and Martha, are heartbroken. They believe that if Jesus had been there earlier, their brother might still be alive. When Jesus arrives, He doesn’t just comfort them with words or say, “Don’t worry, I’ll make everything okay.” Instead, He makes a powerful declaration: He is the resurrection and the life.

What’s incredible here is that Jesus doesn’t simply say, “I can bring Lazarus back to life.” He reveals something much bigger—that He is life itself. He’s not limited by death, time, or any situation that feels hopeless. By saying, “I am the resurrection and the life,” Jesus is telling us that life isn’t just about our earthly experience. Real life is found in Him. And even when we face death or the loss of something precious, Jesus is reminding us that He has ultimate power over those things, and He offers eternal hope.

Application:

Think of times when you’ve faced loss or felt hopeless. It could be the loss of a loved one, a job, an opportunity, or even a sense of purpose. Those moments can feel incredibly painful, and it’s natural to wonder where God is or why He didn’t “show up” sooner to change things. This story reminds us that even when things seem to be over, Jesus has the power to bring new life and hope into any situation.

How does this change how we live today? First, it invites us to lean on Jesus in times of pain. Instead of trying to handle everything on our own or feeling defeated, we can trust that Jesus is present and powerful, no matter how difficult things seem. We can look to Him as our source of strength, believing that He holds the answers
