Devotional Message:
(John 15:16)
"You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you."

Observation:
This verse tells us something amazing: God Himself chose us. It wasn’t by chance or because we earned it. It’s His loving decision.

Jesus didn’t just choose us to be part of His family; He appointed us to do something meaningful—bear fruit. This "fruit" refers to a life that reflects God’s love, kindness, and truth, and a faith that impacts others positively. It's the kind of work that doesn’t fade away with time but lasts into eternity.

God doesn’t leave us alone to figure out how to bear fruit. He empowers us through His Word, His Spirit, and the community of believers. The promise at the end of the verse is also encouraging: “Whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.” This reminds us that we can rely on God’s guidance and provision as we live out our calling.

Application:
First, let’s take time to remember that we didn’t choose God—He chose us. That should humble us and fill us with gratitude. God saw value in us even when we didn’t see it ourselves.

Second, we should ask, "What kind of fruit am I bearing?" Are we showing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and other fruits of the Spirit in our daily lives? Are we helping others grow closer to God? It’s not about doing big things but about being faithful in the small things—sharing a kind word, helping someone in need, or being patient when it’s hard.

Lastly, let’s pray boldly, knowing that God will answer when we ask for His help in doing His will. We can trust Him to guide us to opportunities where we can bear fruit. Remember, it’s not about striving alone—it’s about staying connected to Jesus, the true vine, so He can work through us.
