Devotional Message:
(John 19:11)
Jesus answered, "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin."

Observation:
In John 19:11, Jesus speaks a profound truth while standing before Pilate, a Roman governor who has the authority to order His crucifixion. Jesus says, "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above." This statement shows us something incredible—Jesus was not afraid or defeated, even though Pilate appeared to hold His life in his hands. Why? Because Jesus knew that God was in control. Pilate's authority was not his own; it was allowed by God.

This verse teaches us a deep truth about God's sovereignty. "Sovereignty" means that God is in charge of everything—big or small, seen or unseen. Even in this moment, when it looked like Jesus had no control over the situation, He still trusted that God's plan was unfolding exactly as it should. Jesus wasn’t helpless; He willingly submitted to God’s will, knowing that through His suffering, salvation for humanity would be accomplished.

Now, think about this: if Jesus could trust God's control in such a painful and unjust situation, we can trust Him too, no matter how confusing or challenging life may get.

Application:
How often do we feel like life is spinning out of control? Maybe you're facing a problem at work, struggling in a relationship, or dealing with a situation where others seem to hold all the power, and you feel powerless. In moments like these, we tend to worry, complain, or even question God's presence. But this verse reminds us of a critical truth: God is always in control. Even when life seems unfair or chaotic, nothing happens without His permission.
