(Hebrews 10:23)
"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful."
In Hebrews 10:23, we are told to “hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.” This verse is a powerful reminder that the hope we have in God is something worth holding on to, no matter what we go through. But what does it mean to “hold unswervingly” to hope? It means not letting go, not getting distracted, and not doubting, even when things get tough. It’s like grabbing onto something strong and refusing to let go, even when the wind is blowing hard around you.
Let’s be honest: life can be really challenging. There are times when things don’t go the way we plan. We may face sickness, loss, disappointment, or struggles that make us feel like giving up. In these moments, it’s easy to feel like hope is slipping away. But this verse encourages us to keep our grip on hope—because the One who made promises to us, God, is faithful.
Think about it: when you make a promise to someone, you do your best to keep it, right? But as humans, we sometimes fail to keep our promises. We get tired, we forget, or we change our minds. But God is not like that. He never gets tired, He never forgets, and He never changes His mind. When He promises to be with us, to provide for us, to love us, and to lead us, He means it. He will never break those promises.
Let’s apply this to our lives. Maybe you’re going through something difficult right now. It could be a personal problem, a family issue, or a situation at work or school that’s weighing you down. In times like these, it’s easy to feel hopeless. But God is asking us to trust Him, even when we can’t see how things will work out.
So, how do we hold on to hope in real life? First, we remind ourselves of God’s promises. Reading the Bible helps us remember what He has said.
