Devotional Message:
(Colossians 3:1-2)
"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."

In this passage, Paul writes about a change of focus for those who believe in Christ. He tells us that since we have been raised with Christ, our lives should look different. Instead of focusing on the temporary things of this world—like money, status, or material possessions—we are called to set our hearts and minds on what is eternal: the things of heaven.

The phrase "set your hearts on things above" means we should desire and seek the things that matter to God. This might be showing love to others, being patient, forgiving, and doing what pleases Him. When we only focus on earthly things, like our problems or possessions, we can easily get stressed or feel empty. But when we focus on Christ and His kingdom, we find peace and purpose.

Setting our "minds on things above" is about more than just thinking differently; it’s about living differently. It means choosing to live in a way that reflects our identity as children of God. Every day, we have the choice to follow God’s will or to get distracted by what’s happening around us. When we set our minds on things above, we choose to live in a way that honors Christ, showing the world that He is our source of joy and hope.

Application:

How can we apply this in our daily lives? First, we need to be intentional about what we focus on. It’s easy to get caught up in daily worries or desires, but Paul is reminding us to lift our eyes higher. This might mean starting your day by praying and reading Scripture to remind yourself of God’s truths. It could be as simple as thanking God for His blessings, even when things aren’t perfect.
