Daily Devotions: A Woman First Carried the Message of the Resurrection - March 9, 2025
COP Manila
Today's Scripture: Mark 16:5-7 and Mark 16:9-10
In Mark 16:1-7, God chose women to be the first witnesses of Jesus' resurrection. Mary Magdalene was the first to see the risen Christ (Mark 16:9-10), and the angel instructed the women to tell the disciples about His resurrection (Mark 16:5-7). If God did not believe in women in ministry, why would He entrust them with the first proclamation of the greatest message in history?
Many arguments against women in ministry come from misinterpretations of select verses, while ignoring the broader biblical evidence. The prophet Anna in the temple recognized Jesus as the Messiah, despite the religious leaders failing to do so. Throughout Scripture, women played crucial roles in spreading God’s word.
The takeaway is clear: Women are called, equipped, and anointed to preach the gospel. If they were good enough to be the first to witness and proclaim the resurrection, they are more than qualified to fulfill the Great Commission.
Ladies, be at peace and boldly preach the whole gospel in Jesus' name!
