Jeremiah 41:6 (NLT) – “Ishmael went out from Mizpah to meet them, weeping as he went. When he reached them, he said, ‘Come and see Gedaliah...’”
In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on the tragic account of Gedaliah and Ishmael in Jeremiah chapter 41, warning believers against the subtle dangers of spiritual deception. He illustrates how Ishmael used tears, emotional manipulation, and flattery to gain trust before betraying those around him, showing that deception often wears a kind, sympathetic mask.

Pastor Sumrall explains that not everyone who cries with us or flatters us operates with godly intentions. As believers, we must cultivate spiritual discernment through God's Word rather than letting raw emotions dictate our choices. By staying grounded in biblical truth, we guard our hearts and communities against hidden agendas and destructive traps.
