Daily Devotions: “We Can’t” Vs “We Can” Leaders - March 8, 2025

Today's Scripture: Numbers 13:30-33

In today's Daily Devotions with Pastor Sumrall, we explore the difference between "We Can't" and "We Can" leaders, as seen in Numbers 13:30-33. When Moses sent spies into the Promised Land, all of them were leaders in their own right—yet their attitudes determined whether they were men of faith or men of doubt. Joshua and Caleb stood as "We Can" leaders, while the other ten spies fell into the "We Can't" mindset.

The facts were the same for both groups: the land was beautiful and fruitful, but it was also filled with giants and fortified cities. The difference lay in their self-perception. "We Can't" leaders saw themselves as weak and assumed others saw them the same way: "We felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought too." (Numbers 13:33) Their insecurity led them to spread fear, convince others that failure was inevitable, and even rebel against God’s chosen leadership.

In contrast, "We Can" leaders like Caleb boldly declared, "Let’s go at once and take the land. We can certainly conquer it!" (Numbers 13:30). They didn’t deny the challenges but believed in God’s power to overcome them. True leaders don’t spread fear or seek validation from the crowd—they inspire faith and action.

The lesson for us today is clear: when God calls us to something great, will we respond with doubt or faith? Instead of saying, "It can’t be done," let’s ask, "Lord, how can this be done?" With Christ, all things are possible, and every great battle brings a great victory.
