DAY 12: Second Sunday of Lent - SPIRITUAL JOURNEY FROM LENT TOWARDS EASTER

Rev. Fr. Salvador "Budge" O. Orara, Jr. shares his reflections on the readings of the Second Sunday of Lent. First Reading (Gn 12: 1-4a) narrates how Abraham obeyed God as He instructed him to go from the land of his kinfolk (Ur) to the Promise Land that the Lord would show or lead him into. The Lord establishes a covenant with Abram that He will make Abraham a great nation and blesses him. On the second letter of Paul to Timothy (2 Tm 1:8b-10), Apostle Paul reveals to Timothy and fellow Christians how the Lord Jesus saved us and called us to a holy life. As in previous readings, Jesus desires us to be perfect as God the Father is perfect. On the Gospel Reading according to Matthew (Mt 17: 1-9), the Lord Jesus transfigured into a glorified body as He converses with Moses and Elijah. The three Apostles - Peter, James and John became witnesses to that mystical and/or supernatural event. Jesus reveals His true nature to the three Apostles. He instructed the three not to tell anyone of the vision and just reveal it upon His death. The summit of Mt. Tabor where they ascended with the Lord became the pinnacle of our Faith where the three Apostles experienced "union with God."
