DAY 22: Wednesday of the Third Week of Lent - SPIRITUAL JOURNEY FROM LENT TOWARDS EASTER
Rev. Fr. Budge Orara continuously takes us to a Lenten spiritual journey towards Easter. On today's first reading from the Book of Deuteronomy (Dt 4: 11, 5-9) we parents are tasked by the Lord to keep and observe the commandments and statutes of our God. In so doing we are teaching our children by our actions in accord with the commandments of our Lord. As parents, our work that is expected of us by the Lord will be complete if we obey, follow and live the law of our Lord and part them to our children. Meanwhile, the holy Gospel reading (Mt 5:17-19) speaks of Jesus echoing the Law of God as spoken and written in the Old Testament. He proclaims that He have come not to abolish the law or the prophets but to fulfill those. "Whoever obeys and teaches the commandments of God will be called greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven," Jesus Christ declares as to emphasize the validity and effectivity of the Old Covenant.
