DAY 5: First Sunday of Lent - SPIRITUAL JOURNEY FROM LENT TO EASTER

On this First Sunday of Lent, Rev Fr. Salvador "Budge" O. Orara, Jr. recounts the "Temptation of Christ" during His forty-day fast in the desert. God did not spare His Son from being tempted by Satan as He is also in human form. It was a clear demonstration for us that not even a Son of God was not exempted from being tempted or tested. Satan's pride tried to push Jesus's loyalty and obedience to God to the limit, in contrast to Adam's easy fall. So, it is a great lesson for us human kind and creations to be ready for trials and sufferings. The temptation in the desert also foreshadowed Christ impending shedding of His Divinity in order to show His love for us through His salvific Passion and Death on the Cross, a real Holocaust. Praise and glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ! For by your Cross and Resurrection You had set us free!
