DAY 7: Tuesday of the First Week of Lent | SPIRITUAL JOURNEY FROM LENT TOWARDS EASTER
As Fr. Budge reflects on the First Reading (Is 55: 10-11) and on the Gospel Reading (Mt 6: 7-15), we realize that on the first , the Lord emphasizes that His messages and/or His Word are Spirit and Life that when spoken to us will bring transformation to the hearers of His Word. It is the process of communication where three are involved - the "Communicator," "communicant," and "Communique." The Communique - the Word of God, which is the message, as spoken by God through the mouth of the Prophet Isaiah - the Communicator, produces from the hearers - the communicant, the intended "effect" not unlike the symbolism or analogy mentioned. Whereas on the Holy Gospel according to Matthew, our Lord Jesus Christ teaches us how to address our God, the Father and how to properly ask for our needs, ask for forgiveness, pray for strength to overcome temptation and assaults of the enemy. In our reflections, we gather and understand that the Second Person of the Trinity - our Lord Jesus Christ, the Word became Flesh, came down from Heaven to show us the path to salvation or redemption; and how to achieve it.
