ππ» The King Who Came Riding on a Donkey
When Jesus entered Jerusalem, many people were excited. They put palm branches on the road and shouted βHosanna,β which means βSave us now!β They believed Jesus was the King God promised, but many of them thought He came to save them from the Roman government, not from sin. Jesus entered the city riding on a donkey, fulfilling the prophecy in Zechariah 9:9. A king riding a horse usually came for war, but a king riding a donkey came in peace. Jesus came as a humble King, not to start a political revolution, but to die on the cross to save sinners. From a Reformed perspective, this shows that Godβs salvation plan was not about earthly politics but about rescuing people from sin through Christβs death. The crowd praised Jesus, but many did not truly understand who He was or why He came.
