ππ» When Parents Fail to Lead β Eli and His Sons
Eli was a priest of God and a leader in Israel. He served in the house of God and knew His laws. But his sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were very sinful. They were also priests, yet they stole from the offerings, disrespected worship, and lived in wicked ways. Eli knew what they were doing, and he told them it was wrong, but he did not stop them. He did not discipline them firmly. Because of this, sin continued and became worse. This story teaches us that it is not enough to know what is rightβwe must also act on it. God is holy and just. He sees all sin, even in leaders and families. God had already warned that judgment would come because Eli honored his sons more than Him. This reminds us that God cares not only about what we say, but also about what we allow. True love corrects and leads others back to God.
