💁🏻 Who Is Gideon? Gideon – God’s Patience With Weak Faith
Gideon lived in a time when Israel was afraid of their enemies. God had already told Gideon that He would save Israel through him (Judges 6:14–16). But Gideon was still afraid. So he asked God for a sign. He put a fleece of wool on the ground and asked that it be wet with dew while the ground stayed dry (Judges 6:36–38). God did it. Then Gideon asked again, this time for the opposite—to make the fleece dry and the ground wet (Judges 6:39–40). Again, God answered. The fleece was not a strong act of faith. It showed Gideon’s weakness and doubt. Yet God did not reject him. God patiently stooped down to help him. This is mercy. God accommodated Gideon’s fragile faith and strengthened him step by step. Psalm 103:13–14 says God remembers that we are dust. IFaith itself is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8–9). When our faith feels small, God does not depend on our strength. He sustains and grows the faith He gives (Philippians 1:6). Gideon’s story shows that God is patient with fearful believers, but He also leads them toward obedience.
