The Gospel of Matthew reminds us that we must start building the Kingdom of God in our world today. Compassion and service are central to living our lives for the glory of God’s kingdom. And compassion is not just empathy; it should always bear fruit in service. When the Lord said, “I came to proclaim liberty to the captives,” he tells us that we should serve, most especially, the least, the last, and the lost.
