God of Kindness - July 19, 2023 DD
Pastor David E. Sumrall shows us one of his favorite Bible verses. In Romans 2:4-5, we read about how wonderfully kind and patient God is with us. Understanding that God's kindness is intended to lead people away from sin and bring them to repentance and transformation is essential. Still, verse 5 reminds us that if we stubbornly refuse to turn from our sin, we are accumulating retribution for ourselves for the day of judgment. God's goodness and kindness are catalysts for change, not a license for sinful behavior.
Romans 2:4-5 NLT - "Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?" But because you are stubborn and refuse to turn from your sin, you are storing up terrible punishment for yourself. For a day of anger is coming, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed."
