The gospel helps us rejoice; in Jesus’ conversation with Nicodemus, we find a reason: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.”
This is why at calvary, brothers and sisters, it was the Son of God himself who was lifted up. He came not to condemn but to save us. He responded to our infidelity with mercy. So let us rejoice! God loves us!
He gave his son Jesus as the unparalleled sign of his love for us.
