GOODNESS OF GOD
UVCC Preaching Theme
January-March 2024
Series Description:
Goodness is the perfect attribute of a perfect God. There is no one who is good except God! God relates to people and His creation with goodness. God’s morals are perfect because He is good. He is holy because He is good. He created human beings and nature because he is good. God gives grace and mercy to sinful people because He is good.
God cannot be bad because he cannot deny His attribute as good. God cannot be bad to people and nature because He is good! The bad things that are happening in the world is not because God is bad. Certainly not! The bad things that are happening in the world is because people are rejecting the goodness of God. By people’s words and actions, people are rejecting God. God cannot work among people because of sin and disobedience of people. God can give a full blast of His goodness among us because of such. God cannot tolerate sin. He has to let people go in their rebellion. Thus, the absence of God because of conscious or unconscious rejection and rebellion of God by humankind created chaos of all sorts. Then came sadness, depression, useless quarrels, family problems, corruption, acts of nature, disunity, immorality, murder, suicide, etc. All of these are evidences of the absence of God. God is hampered by these chaos that is why He cannot freely give away His goodness.
There is good news! The goodness of God can be manifested when people repent of sin and acknowledge God’s will through Jesus Christ. Let’s invite Jesus into every are of our lives. Then, the goodness of God can be better known,
