Manny and his friend were on their way to a job interview when they bumped into an old lady and made her things fall on the street. A man helped her pick them up. Manny's friend wanted to assist her too, but Manny stopped him because they had to catch the train.
They sat comfortably inside the train, while a lady had been standing for a long time. Manny did not bother to offer his seat to her.

As they got off the train and walked to the interview venue, a man stepped on Manny's shoe. Manny got angry and shouted at him, asking for his name. The man said his name was Joe. He apologized and offered to buy Manny a new pair of shoes, but Manny yelled that Joe's one-month salary would not be enough to pay for his shoes.
In the restroom, Manny told his friend that he had bought his shoes from Divisoria, a cheap market, and that he would make Joe pay for them after the interview. The manager who interviewed Manny was impressed by his credentials. In the middle of the interview, someone knocked on the door. It was Joe, the newly promoted assistant manager.
The job required interpersonal skills, so Manny was speechless when the manager asked him what qualities he had to get hired. He remembered how he had behaved badly, being vain and arrogant. He realized the consequences of his actions and approached Joe to apologize. Joe said that it was never too late to correct one's mistakes and that he always gave people a chance to do so. Joe told Manny that expensive outfits and shoes were not important, but humility and kindness had more value in the eyes of God.
