Martha welcomed Jesus into her home and worked hard to serve Him. Her desire to serve was good, but she became worried, distracted, and overwhelmed by everything she had to do. Mary, on the other hand, simply sat at Jesusโ feet and listened to His words.
Jesus did not condemn Martha for serving. Instead, He gently reminded her that she was โworried and upset about many things.โ Mary had chosen to focus on what mattered most: being with the Lord and listening to Him.
Sometimes, we can be like Martha. We become so busy with work, responsibilities, family, ministry, and daily problems that we forget to stop and listen to God. We may even be doing good things, but our hearts can become tired and restless.
