Today's Devotion:
365 Daily Devotions: Seminary Edition
💁🏻 Concept:
New Covenant Experience of the Holy Spirit
Under the New Covenant, the Holy Spirit is given not just to a few, but to all believers—permanently and powerfully. This began at Pentecost when the Spirit came upon the disciples in a new and transformative way. Now, at conversion, every believer receives the Spirit as a guarantee of salvation, empowering us to live holy lives, understand God’s truth, and bear spiritual fruit. Unlike the Old Testament experience, this indwelling is personal, continuous, and essential to the Christian life.
📖 Bible Readings: Acts 1:8
(Luke 11:13; John 14:16–17; Acts 1:8; 2:1-4; 4:31; Romans 8:9–11, 16-17; Galatians 4:6, 5:22–25; Ephesians 1:13–14, 5:18; Philippians 1:9; Acts 16:6-7; 1 Corinthians 6:19; 2 Corinthians 2:21-22; Titus 3:5-6)
👨🏻💻 Teachings:
Under the New Covenant:
1. The Holy Spirit’s permanent indwelling is a distinct blessing of the New Covenant.
2. The Holy Spirit teaches and empowers every believer in order to bear the fruit of the Spirit.
3. The Holy Spirit secures the victory of God’s Kingdom here on earth.
💪🏼 Applications:
1. Know God’s plan for your life by listening to Him.
2. Kneel first thing in the morning for empowerment.
3. Keep in step with the Spirit and bear His fruit.
🎙Discussion:
What are the benefits of kneeling first thing in the morning?
Alternative questions:
1. What have you learned from this devotion?
2. How can you practically apply our devotion?
🙏🏼 Prayer:
Lord God, thank You for coming to dwell in me through Your Spirit under the grace of the New Covenant. You are my Helper, my Comforter, my Guide. Fill me afresh today and lead me into the truth of God’s Word. Empower me to resist sin, speak boldly, and love deeply. Let Your fruit grow in me and Your gifts be used through me for your glory. May I never take Your presence for granted, but always depend on You in every moment. Thank You for making Your home in my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
