After losing their child, a couple moved to another location to start over. Jen found a job as a caregiver for Eunice, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cayetano. Her husband warned her that such a job could hinder their fresh start. Jen treated Eunice with love and felt like a mother again. Sometimes she wondered if she was overstepping her role as a caregiver.

Eunice loved to paint and felt appreciated by Jen. She was not happy with the gift her mother gave her for her birthday, but she was thrilled with Jen's gift. Mrs. Cayetano became jealous of Jen and Eunice's closeness. Jen was heartbroken when she lost her job after Eunice had an accident. Jen and her husband were able to move on after 15 years.
