Today's Devotion:
365 Daily Devotions: Seminary Edition
💁🏻 Concept: Humiliation of Christ
The humiliation of Christ refers to the lowly and sacrificial path He willingly took—His incarnation, suffering, death, and burial. Though fully God, He chose to stoop low, becoming human, enduring rejection, and dying on a cross. He did this not because He had to, but because He loved us. His humiliation is not defeat—it is the very road to our salvation. Through His suffering, we find peace. Through His death, we find life.
📖 Bible Readings: Philippians 2:5-8
(Philippians 2:3-11; Isaiah 53:3-7; Matthew 23:12, 26:38-39; John 1:14; Hebrews 2:17-18; Luke 23:46; James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:5-6, 2:24; John 13:13-17)
👨🏻💻 Teachings:
1. Christ, the supreme leader of Christians, humbled himself.
2. Christians should be the most humble people in the world.
3. Christ’s humility serves as the model all Christians must follow.
💪🏼 Applications:
1. Repudiate any sense of entitlement.
2. Place yourself in the position of Jesus.
3. Prevent conflict by adopting Christ-like humility.
🎙Discussion:
How does Christ’s willingness to suffer and be humiliated influence your own willingness to choose the humble path?
🙏🏼 Prayer:
Lord Jesus, please forgive me for being prideful. You who are King of kings chose the path of suffering for my sake. You did not cling to heaven’s glory but came down, bore my sins, and endured the cross. Thank You for Your unmatched humility and sacrificial love. When I feel pride rise, remind me of Your example. When I suffer, remind me You walked that road first. Help me to live not for comfort but for Your glory. Teach me to serve, to sacrifice, and to follow You with all my heart. Amen.
