Today is the 14th Sunday in ordinary time. In the gospel, Jesus praised the Father for the gift of faith given to the little ones who, unlike the wise and the learned, believed in the word he preached and the signs he performed.

This faith led to the conversion of the people who eventually followed Jesus. Tax collectors, the women considered sinful, and others classified as lowly in status by society. The gospel concludes with the invitation to those who labor and are burdened. God in Jesus will give us rest for his yoke is easy and his burden is light.
Will we come to Jesus and learn from him whose heart is meek and humble?
