The Gospel of Matthew reminds us that Jesus came to Earth not to organize a religion but rather to offer salvation for us. To be saved is to be discerning, and as Christians, we must be able to discern the things that teachers of religion are teaching. We should have a curious and open mind about really knowing the truth, rather than just listening and receiving. As we discern, we are also reminded to continuously be respectful and humble in discussing and questioning some other teachings.
