The Gospel of Matthew calls us to love our brothers and sisters in Christ as we love ourselves. He is teaching us to remember that no one on Earth is perfect, so we all make mistakes and bad decisions in our lives. As we learn to love others like we love ourselves, we should also learn to forgive and understand them. The love that we received from God should be extended to other people, especially those who are needy and those who are our enemies. If we learn to be forgiving, we will also receive the blessing of God's forgiveness in our lives.
