The Gospel of John shows us that whatever standing or achievements we have in life, we will never be greater than Jesus, because He is the greatest of all. John the Baptist had a great work on earth and was mostly mistaken as the Messiah, but he never used this for his personal gain. Rather, he used his influence to point people to Jesus. He prepared for His way, making the light and glory of Jesus shine on earth so more people could see. May we take this as an inspiring example to always point people to Christ and not to ourselves.
