The Gospel today (Luke 15: 1-3; 11-32) speaks about the prodigal son going home to his father after living a life of sin, disobedience, and selfishness. He could have opted to continue his miserable and sinful life, but he came to his senses and decided to go home to his loving father. It is honesty and humility that can help us go home.

GO HOME TO GOD. “Restless are our hearts till they rest in You” (St. Augustine). Our real home is heaven. Our final destination is to go back to heaven someday after we have done our mission in this world. We go through this “valley of tears,” but the gates of heaven are open and await us. We are reminded again today: “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?” Mark 8:36)
