Novena for the Holy Souls in Purgatory Day 2 - October 25, 2024
We pray this Novena to help the souls of the faithful who are in purgatory be purified and enter heaven because of the following reasons;
1. God's intention:
According to the Bible, Matthew 25:40 says, "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me".
2. The souls need our prayers:
The souls in purgatory are suffering and need our prayers to help them complete their purification. They are unable to earn merit for themselves.
3. It's an act of charity:
Praying for the souls in purgatory is an act of charity that helps them and eases their suffering.
4. The souls will pray for us in return:
The souls in purgatory will pray for us in gratitude for helping them get to heaven.
It's a holy work: The Church considers praying for the souls in purgatory to be a holy work.
5. It's part of the communion of saints:
The saints in heaven pray for us, and we pray for the souls in purgatory.
