We are on the Thirteenth Sunday in ordinary time. In today's gospel, the Lord highlights two important facets of Christian discipleship.

The first is this: anyone who chooses to follow Jesus must acquire a new perspective on relationships. The second is this: anyone who receives Jesus's disciples and extends hospitality to them receives Jesus and extends hospitality to him.
Friends, the gospel reading is asking us, will you shed off old mindsets and take up your cross to follow Jesus? Will you accept those who come in Jesus' name? Let us heed Jesus's invitation.
