Philippine Madrigal Singers: Alleluia
Philippine Madrigal Singers
9 years ago today, our dearly beloved Ma’am OA, who emphasized the value of the breath in singing, offered her last breath on earth to enter the eternal stage lit by the unceasing brilliance of God. What better way to commemorate this moment than to share this video of the performance of “Alleluia” by Randall Thompson, performed by the Philippine Madrigal Singers at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 2013, during the tribute offered for our great Founder and Matriarch as a National Artist for Music!
The song is especially memorable for Ma’am OA and the Madz as its performance in 1969, during the group’s 1st international tour, at the 2nd International Choral Festival held at the Lincoln Center in New York City proved to be very significant and iconic, as it captured the hearts and imagination of those who were present, and began for the Madz a steady history of critically-acclaimed and well-received performances.

Even as we remember her death, we continue to celebrate the great life that she lived and gave for others, and acknowledge everything we received through her as gifts from God; thus, giving God all the glory: Alleuia!
Alleluia
