Prayer for a Better Philippines (Election)

You said “if we confess our sins, You are faithful and righteous to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness". Forgive us for the way that we have turned our backs on You and bring us back as a people who love you and seek to follow the ways of justice and truth.

Lord we tend our hearts before You; we repent of our wicked ways. Forgive our nation for the sins of oppression, corruption, and greed, for our stubbornness and sheer disregard for your laws, for embracing lies instead of truth, and for choosing self-interest instead of justice and righteousness.

Help us to humble ourselves every day. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in times of distress.

Hear our prayers, and heal our land. May true repentance prevail in every church, community, and our country.

As the election nears, we pray for discernment so that we may choose leaders who understand what matters most to you, live your love, and keep in the ways of your truth.

Spare our country of leaders who have no fear of you, but act in ways that are self-serving, deceitful, and arrogant.

Instead, raise us godly leaders like King David, "...a man after Your own heart..." who led with integrity, and made Israel a strong nation. Even though he committed sin, he humbled himself, owned his mistakes, and subjected himself to God's judgment.

Lord would You bless us with leaders like Nehemiah, Joseph and Daniel. Leaders who fear you and honor You, endowed with wisdom and uncompromising courage to stand for what is right and pleasing in your eyes, who are blameless, and have genuine heart to serve your people.

And whether at a national level or in local governance, we pray Your blessing on those men and women who are seeking to follow
