Psalms 74 & 79: The House Is Coming Down!

In Psalms 74 and 79, the writers mourn the destruction of Jerusalem and its temple. They describe the great sorrow that people feel when the house of God is taken down. Yet they also remember God’s power: He has split the sea, driven enemies away, and given food to His people. The psalms call for God to be still, to keep His promise, and to bring the broken nation back together. They remind us that even when the world is hurting, God can still help, and that we should pray for hope. The two psalms show how grief and faith can live side by side. They teach that God is strong, forgiving, and ready to rebuild.
