REMEMBER GOD'S FIDELITY | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (March 9, 2025) with Sign Language

Saint Luke tells us that this event happened after Jesus’s baptism in the Jordan River. The Spirit led Jesus into the desert, where he fasted for forty days.

There the devil tempted Jesus to command the stones to become bread, to worship him in exchange for earthly power and glory, and to test God’s faithfulness. Jesus rejected these temptations, by anchoring himself on the Word of God.

Friends, Jesus’s triumph over the devil is an important event in His ministry. It reveals the integrity of Jesus and how he viewed his ministry. Nothing could derail Jesus from believing in God who sent him and from fulfilling the mission as God willed it.

And throughout the Lenten season we would see, brothers and sisters, how Jesus defeated the devil and the forces of evil with his death on the cross. This is the hope that this season offers us.
