SHARING BRINGS ABUNDANCE | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (June 22, 2025) with Sign Language

Today is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.

Our devotion to the body and blood of Jesus originated from a vision of Saint Juliana of Liege, which Pope Urban IV approved and instituted as a feast in 1264.

We give reverence to the real presence of the Lord in the consecrated bread and wine, which we consume in memory of him and his singular sacrifice on the cross.

As we celebrate this great feast, the gospel of today takes us back to the feeding of the five thousand.

They only had five loaves and two fish, but Jesus took the provision and blessed them. As the disciples distributed the bread and fish, they saw how everyone had their fill with 12 baskets left.

Friends, that is an illustration of how Jesus offered his flesh and blood for our salvation. Entering the heavenly sanctuary with his Body and Blood, his eternal sacrifice makes possible our celebration of the Eucharist by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We continue to be nourished by the Lord’s saving sacrifice.

Today, and all the other days, at the holy mass, let us receive the Lord with reverence, thankfulness, and joy.
