SAINT AMOS
PROPHET
Amos preached in the northern kingdom of Israel, in particular in the schismatic sanctuary of Betel, during the period of Jeroboam II (793-53 B.C.). Before being called to undertake his mission as a prophet, Amos was a shepherd. The book of his prophecies is chronologically the earliest of the book of the Minor Prophets. In his book Amos invites people to believe in the Lord and inveighs against social injustices, hypocritical worship, and human selfishness.
He is depicted in the robes of antiquity and bears a scroll but otherwise in without specific attributes.
NAME: Amos is from the Hebrew and means “strong.”
Saint Amos.
