SAINT CONON
BASILIAN MONK

Conon was born at Naso, near Missina, Sicily, during the age of King Roger II, between 1130 and 1154. Following his calling, he became a Basilian monk and undertook a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. While he was away both of his parents died, so on his return he decided to lead the life of a hermit, which led him to sanctity. He died in 1236. Tradition attributes many miracles to him.
He is depicted with the dress of a monk and is invoked against diseases of the nose and ears.
