SAINT ROSINE OF WENGLINGEN
VIRGIN MARTYR

Rosine is a saint from the 4th century whose worship is primarily a local cult. The stary of her life cannot be reconstructed in detail because so many elements have become confused with the lives of other saints from the early centuries.
A virgin, she was probably a martyr, for she has been depicted with a sword and palm branch since antiquity, it seems probable she spent a long period in a hermitage. Wenglingen, near Augsburg, has been the center of her cult since the 12th century, as is indicated by her frequent appearance in the local iconography.
