St. Sixtus I | Saint of the Day | April 3

SAINT SIXTUS I
POPE

Sixtus was born into a family of shepherds toward the end of the 1sr century. He was pope from 115 to 125, the year of his death. Since there is no certain information concerning his martyrdom he was not inserted in the new universal calendar of the Church, he does appear, however, in the representation of the martyrs in the basilica of Saint’Apolinare at Ravenna.
