Daniel is a Hebrew who proved himself more capable than all the other administrators in the kingdom. Because of this, the king chose him to oversee the entire empire.

The other high officers became jealous of him and were eager to find fault with him. However, Daniel was faithful and completely trustworthy, so they accused him because of his faith. So they devised a law that any person who prays to anyone except the king shall be thrown into the lions' den. Yet, Daniel continued praying to God daily!

They caught Daniel praying and reported it to the king. King Darius ordered Daniel to be thrown into the lion's den! The following day, the king rushed to check on Daniel in the lion's den and was surprised at how God rescued him!
