TO BE LEFT OUT, TO BE LEFT BEHIND are just some of the few things thta could cause us anxiety and pain. The Ascension of Jesus was also a moment of such an experience, the Lord was leaving. But Jesus wanted his folloers to understand that his leaving was not an abandonment of his friends, but a new turning point in the plan of God, to send each one out empowered by God's loving grace and presence through the spirit.
