“Tanging Yaman” – Song Reflection
“Tanging Yaman” is one of the most beloved Filipino Catholic worship songs. Its message centers on God as our greatest treasure—more valuable than material possessions, success, or anything the world can offer.

Reflection
In our daily lives, we often spend so much time seeking things that we believe will make us happy: financial security, success, recognition, comfort, and the approval of others. Yet, even after receiving these things, we can still feel that something is missing.
Tanging Yaman reminds us that our deepest treasure is God Himself.
When we recognize God as our tanging yaman, we learn to appreciate the blessings we already have rather than constantly searching for something more. We begin to understand that true richness is not measured by what we possess, but by the love, faith, peace, and grace that God gives us.
There are also moments when we lose something important—someone we love, a job, an opportunity, or a dream we had hoped for. During those moments, the song can become a prayer of surrender.
