Today’s Gospel presents a familiar episode in the life of Jesus: the devil tempted him when he was in the desert to spiritually prepare for his ministry. By rejecting and rebuking the devil and its temptations, Jesus exercised his freedom to remain devoted to God whom he will not put to the test. Why? Because God is God; and there is no other whose Word is enough and whose protection is as dependable. Will we also choose God?
