THE OWNER OF THE KINGDOM | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (October 4, 2026) with Sign Language
We are on the twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time; and in today’s gospel, Jesus uses a parable to teach us about God as the true owner of his Kingdom.

There is a landowner who planted a vineyard and entrusted it to his tenants. When harvest time came, he sent his servants to collect his produce. But the tenants rejected and harmed them. They even killed the landowner’s son.
Brothers and sisters, the landowner sent his son because he thought his tenants would “respect [his] son. To the tenants, however, killing the landowner’s son would become a way for them to “acquire his inheritance.”
Through this parable, the Lord teaches that God builds His Kingdom by his Word, by the people he sends to proclaim it and by his caring. But the question is: Are we open to his actions for his kingdom? Or do we want to establish our own kingdom? Let us pray that the Kingdom of God may continue to bear fruit in and through us. Amen.
