A large portion of the Book of Job (chapters 3 – 31) is devoted to 3 cycles of seemingly convoluted dialogs between the suffering Job and his 3 ignorant but well-meaning friends. Today’s message from Job 13: 1 – 5 provides a brief yet incisive glimpse into the nature and intensity of their weighty discussions. Here we see Job maintains his righteous integrity as he defiantly responds to his friends’ charge that he was complicit in his sufferings because of his own unintentional sinfulness. Through this exchange, we will draw some practical insights into the realities of the human condition and God’s eternal purposes.
