I met Rev. Fr. Rey Magnaye at National Shrine of our Lady of Fatima in Valenzuela City when he was still a seminarian at the ICMAS (Diocese of Malolos, Bulacan). He was the one who normally teach our grand chorale every "concert for a cause" that we have during Lenten Season.

"Unang Alay" is a contemporary Filipino Catholic worship song composed by Rev, Fr. Rey Magnaye from Immaculate Concepcion Seminary in Guiguinto Malolos Bulacan, Philippines.
The title, Unang Alay ("First Offering"), expresses the Christian desire to give God the very first and best of everything—our hearts, time, talents, work, joys, and even our sufferings. Inspired by biblical teachings about offering the "firstfruits" to God (see Proverbs 3:9), the song reminds believers that true worship begins with a heart willingly surrendered to the Lord.
Reflection
Unang Alay reminds us that God does not simply ask for what is left over after our busy lives. He invites us to offer Him our first love, our first thoughts each day, and the best of who we are. Every act of kindness, every sacrifice, and every prayer becomes pleasing to Him when offered with love.
The song encourages us to examine our hearts: Do we place God first, or only remember Him when we need help? When we make God our first priority, He transforms even our ordinary work and daily struggles into acts of worship. Like the bread and wine offered at the altar, we place our lives in His hands, trusting Him to bless and use them for His greater glory.

Lord, receive my first offering today—my heart, my thoughts, my work, and my dreams. May everything I do bring glory to You. Teach me to put You first in every decision and to offer my life with love, gratitude, and faith. Amen.
