For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
—2 Corinthians 4:16
What does 2 Corinthians 4 teach us?
In 2 Corinthians 4, Paul talks about the light of the gospel (2 Corinthians 4:1-6). He explains that, as Christians, we are to proclaim the light – that light being Jesus. Jesus allows us to see and know the glory of God (2 Corinthians 4:6). We are to proclaim the light of Jesus in the darkness of this broken world.

Even though our outer person is being destroyed, our inner person is being renewed day by day. That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
Paul's passion was to reinforce the good news of the gospel with clarity and remind us that as part of God's new creation, we are aliens in a foreign land; living in deteriorating earthen vessels with a heavenly hope. As part of the Body of Christ, we are indwelled by the Spirit of God with an eternal inheritance kept for us in heaven.
