The Hands of a Brother

31 October is the feast of St Alphonsus Rodriguez, patron saint of Jesuit brothers. We pay tribute to all religious brothers. Jesuit brothers, with their diverse backgrounds and ministries, have played crucial roles in the Society of Jesus. Decree 7 of General Congregation 34 states: “In some ways the religious brother embodies religious life in its essence, and so is able to illustrate that life with particular clarity.”
