James 1:17 is a verse from the Bible that says "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change" ¹. This verse is often interpreted as a reminder that God is the source of all good things in life, and that He is unchanging and consistent in His goodness.


The character of God remains the same throughout time and into eternity, and He chose to make the man who failed, into a victorious Conqueror. He purposed to make us into a new creation with a new heart and to impute us with His own righteousness. He purposed to illuminate our spiritual understanding through His written Word, so it would be a lamp to our feet and a light to our path, by means of His Holy Spirit Who would guide us into all truth.

He is the bountiful Giver of all good things and sheds on us the light of His love and purity. Despite our faults, He never fails us nor forsakes us, and readily bestows on us the gifts of His goodness and grace: "For every good gift and every perfect gift come to us from the Father of lights." He is our Heavenly Father Who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and Whose goodness and grace towards the children of men never changes.
